What is ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)?
ICSI is a highly advanced assisted reproductive technology (ART) used to treat severe male infertility. In this procedure, a single, high-quality sperm is directly injected into a mature egg using a fine needle. This increases the chances of fertilization, especially in cases where traditional IVF methods may not be effective. Once fertilization occurs, the embryo is carefully monitored and later transferred into the woman's uterus to achieve pregnancy. ICSI is usually performed in combination with in vitro fertilization (IVF) to improve conception success. This technique is highly beneficial for couples experiencing difficulties due to poor sperm quality, motility, or previous failed IVF attempts.
